The Heart of Dog by Doranna Durgin

The Heart of Dog has several short stories about and in the perspective of a dog. I must say for the most part the stories captured my attention. Although the first one is one that I couldn't make it through. The first story started you out in the middle of someone’s life with no explanation as to where or how or why they were where they were. I didn't realize what was going on until I was about 3/4 of the way thru the story.

The second was an easier read and the subsequent stories got easier and more entertaining for the most part. In all fairness this is not my type of read for a book. I do think that the stories were well written and I could follow the gist of each of the stories.  Though I don't believe that the stories actually reflect the art of the gathering author I do think that for the most part she did make good decisions on which stories she choose to put in this collection.
