Borrowed Lives by Kevin Crouch

This is one of those rare books that combines magic, time travel and coming of age love story.  I really liked Crouch’s concepts of how time travel works for his protagonist, Ray.  It was well written and the plot moves along nicely.  I enjoyed how the author was able to incorporate the concepts and issues surrounding time travel into his story to make it entertaining and not confusing.

I have to say, however, that there were times that he over described things.  For me, I wanted to get on with the main story and there were some areas where the author put in information and side tales that I felt didn’t move the main story along.  I suggest that maybe he make those into separate adventures for Ray because they could easily have been a whole book just on those parts.

But overall I did enjoy reading this story and would recommend it as a cross between a love story and science fiction.  Don’t miss it!
